Life-Changing Cleaning and Organising Tips

Spring cleaning is one of those things that we all like to avoid, yet never can – not unless we want our homes to look like pig sties, that is. Thorough house cleaning should be done every now and then, but that does not mean that you have to break your back over it. There are many ways to circumvent a hard job even if you are up for it. Simple cleaning hacks have been invented by the most creative of minds to help you in that exact direction. Simply read below and pick your weapon of choice to battle off the tedium of domestic cleaning.

#1 – Use Lint Rollers for Dust

Vacuum cleaners are loud and heavy, aren’t they? But do you know what is not? A lint roller. That’s right – simply take a lint roller and put it to good use. Roll up all the dust from most hard surfaces, such as tables or shelves, or even the really sticky dust on your lamps.

#2 – Use Dryer Sheets on Baseboards

Lint rollers do not do well when the surface is a more curved or patterned one, such as with baseboards. What does a much better job with that is a dryer sheet. It both takes away the dust and freshens up the surface too.

#3 – Leave Plastic Sheets in the Fridge

When doing kitchen cleaning, one of the hardest jobs is to take care of the fridge. But there is a huge shortcut you can take: put a plastic sheet on each of the shelves in the fridge and when the time for cleaning comes, all you have to do is take out and replace the sheets. Neat, huh?

#4 – Use Vinegar on Water Stains

Water stains are the bane of bathroom cleaning. They are many, annoying… and very easy to handle. Make an all-purpose home cleaner with vinegar and water in a spray bottle, sprinkle some of it over the water stains and rub for a bit with a rag or a cloth. Job done!

#5 – Use Cream of Tartar on Stainless Steel

Stainless steel is among the best-looking things in your kitchen, right? But cleaning it takes a lot of expensive polish and time to apply it. Instead, just buy some cream of tartar, spread it with a sponge and then scrub till the cream is wiped and the surface is shining.

#6 – Get a Microfiber Cloth

A huge shortcut to the finish line of a lot of your battles with dust and dirt is to obtain a microfiber cloth. It consumes a grand amount of dust, it is long-lasting, and it only takes warm water to clean. Among the best home cleaning tools you can get.

#7 – Sanitise Sponges in Microwave

When your sponges are all worn out and you think it’s time to throw them away and get new ones, don’t be so fast to chuck them into the bin. Hold on to those pennies for now and just put the sponges in the microwave. Turn it on for 10-20 minutes and all the germs collected in the sponges will be removed.

#8 – Downsize and Minimise

Another easy way to clean is to have fewer things to clean. If you de-clutter before the spring cleaning and minimise after, you will have very little to deal with.

#9 – Use DIY Home Cleaners Recipes for Healthy Cleaning

No need to use the expensive and possibly dangerous house cleaners when you can make your own cheap, yet quite relevant and efficient ones with baking soda, vinegar, salt, and essential oils.

#10 – Use Lemon Whenever Possible

Disinfecting is a big process in cleaning, so whenever you can, take a slice of lemon and rub it over the surface you are cleaning for an antibacterial touch. Works wonders on faucets and metal surfaces.
